Sunday, April 2nd

Move over, Kate Moss. Naomi Campbell, you’re out of a job. Who needs Heidi Klum when you have Hanna Martina Moriguchi,
Eva Spanring-Forster, Yoshiko Fujita, Ayami Kobayashi, Naoyo Kagawa, Sumie Bucher, Naomi Hikasa and Kavita Shah?

As Tokyo Fashion Week came to an end, the Club’s very own supermodels took to the catwalk to parade the Spring/Summer Collection
of Japanese and US couture from the boutique ‘Eva’. International jet-setter Sue Miller graced the front row of an A-list audience of Kobe celebs
but where was Anna Wintour? Had Vogue’s editor-in-chief flown in from New York, she might nally have cracked a smile to see models
who appeared to enjoy the clothes they were wearing.
While the Spotlight paparazzi’s shutters snapped, arbiter of fashion Teiko Wakamiya introduced with aplomb the creations expertly
displayed by the glamorous girls. Asymmetrical hemlines, voluminous sleeves, and bold prints on a white ground feature this season; pastels
predominate for separates, though shocking pink is also a trend. Good news for fashionistas: everything’s very reasonably priced and available
at ‘Eva’ in Sakaemachi, Kobe.
With Chef Kamiki’s kitchen producing the brunch that followed the show, there was never any danger the audience would be subjected
to a Size Zero diet of half a grapefruit and a lettuce leaf. Who could resist a buffet offering roasted wagyu beef
with steamed vegetables or pan-fried seafood with tomato, capers and anchovy sauce, or abstain from the luscious chocolate and strawberry desserts? Forget about the waistline – you can always buy the next size.
Congratulations and thanks to doyenne of style Ricaco Jepsen for masterminding this very successful event.
