After 8 years Kobe Club has revived its annual ski trip this year to Furano, Hokkaido on March 17th to 21st. In planning any skiing trip, the greatest challenge for the Club is getting participation and nature’s blessing of good snow on the slopes. Fortunately, we were blessed with excellent weather and great company.

The trip kicked off with our gathering at the Kobe airport, and a see-off from JTB and Chandru Mahtani. While on course to our destination
via plane and bus we were all getting to know each other better, helping out one another, sharing food and taking pictures. In short a strong
kindred feeling was blossoming amongst the four families what I would like to call `our Kobe Club Family’. I have seen and met Edi and Herbert
at the Club, but never really got to know them that well. This trip changed that, breaking reservations and building great memories together.
Within a day, we were enthusiastically conversing about skiing, education, golf, vegetarian diets, moustache grooming techniques, Kobe Club
and the best ways of pouring and drinking beer! We nicknamed Edi as `Edi the Eagle’ when he ew down the slope at trememdous speed
that none of us could keep up with. The kids (Florentyna, Jai, Luca, Maria, Ragini, Rishi and Viraj) also had a great time. They enjoyed
the snowpark, the onsen and the good food that both the hotel and the Furano town had to offer. In short, such trips are not just about
enjoying the snow, but really building the bonds of friendship between Members and their families. I am excited about the next ski/snowboarding
trip in 2018 that Kobe Club organizes, and encourage more Members to participate.
During this trip we had also discussed about the possibility of organizing a rafting trip to Shikoku and a gol ng trip to Okinawa.
I would like to voice my encouragement to my fellow Members that if such events do get planned, let’s participate and encourage our friends
to join in. We can try to actively get involved in organizing such trips with our Committee. Not only will it be great fun and allow us all to share
what we know well and enjoy, but we will be building a bigger family here at the Kobe Club as the experience and memories bring us closer.
