Friday, June 16th

You could think the weather god is a Member of our Club. On 16th June the weather was perfect and nearly 40 asparagus lovers and those who like to become same gathered in our Dining Room to enjoy our traditional Asparagus Dinner which has been initiated more than 10 years ago by our former president Rainer Weiland.

Typically the start of the asparagus season is a sign that spring finally arrived and summer is coming soon. Next to beer and sausages, asparagus is maybe the most famous dish from Germany, the home of white asparagus. Paired with fresh white wine it is hard to withstand this delicacy.  Our excellent chef, Kamiki-san, created a mouthwatering full course menu with many different variations of asparagus. The dinner started with white asparagus Blanc Manger followed by smoked conger eel and green asparagus before the white asparagus from Peru paired with Sauce Hollandaise, Jamón Serrano and super delicious potatoes from Hokkaido was served by our very professional Jimmy and his friendly team. Still, this Classic style of asparagus is the most famous one all over the world.   A great dinner course needs to be followed by a delicious desert. This year we could enjoy Pistachio Mousse with Framboise Ice Cream. Oishikatta!   When our excellent chef Kamiki- san and his great crew came into the Dining Room they received a very well deserved big applause.   While looking around you could see all people were in very good mood and many continued the evening at the Bar where Freddie served cool drinks.  The newly furnished Dining Room and the Bar, the new roof and the new air conditioner really makes a big difference.  All asparagus lovers are already now eagerly looking forward to the next year’s asparagus dinner in our Club. And those who could not attend this year, sorry I have to say you definitively missed something. So, please save the date for the next event in your calendar on time.
