How did Halloween become so popular in Japan?
A great Halloween event has come to Kobe Club again this year, and 38 children and 46 adults had a wonderful time.

While Typhoon No.22 was approaching Kobe, I was heading for the Club with my wife Aya, our 7-year old daughter Nozomi, her best friend Mizuka and Mizuka’s mother Yasuko.
We arrived in the Ballroom and found it lled with children dressed in various costumes, not only traditional Witch, Angel and Dracula, but also Harry Potter, Minion, Stitch, Pirate, Son Go Ku, Wally and Pikachu. Children were also absorbed in making Halloween Bat Bags.
“Buffet is ready!” Children formed a queue quickly. Dishes, specially prepared for the day, were very well presented at the buffet table. Hamburger, Pizza, French Fries, Fried Chicken, Gratin... all dishes arranged by Chef Kamiki captured the children’s hearts!
A happy game time followed the meal. Children immersed themselves in the Pumpkin Race, Balloon Relay, Big Othello and Jump Roping. Mrs. Ricaco Jepsen’s wonderful hosting and the warm assistance of the Kobe Club staff livened up the atmosphere.
The highlight of the party was, of course, the “Trick or Treat Tour”!!!   Children went through the backyard of the Club, and they were threatened by witches and ghosts which suddenly appeared from the darkness. The children returned back to the room proudly with lots of sweets.
Children also enjoyed ice cream, popcorn, and homemade cookies as a dessert buffet. They never really wanted to go home.
I appreciate all the staff who have arranged such a great event and look forward to attending the party again!
